Marvel History 155: Fantastic Four # 28

Issue: Fantastic Four # 28
Writer: Stan Lee
Artist: Jack Kirby
Publication Date: July 1964

Brief Summary:

So, the Puppet Master takes over Xavier's mind.  I'm going to say this probably doesn't happen in the MU of the future.  Stan is still settling into the limits of each of his character's powers.  I'm thinking a handful of clay, radioactive or not, will not stand up as powerful enough to handle Prof. X in the coming years.

The X-Men receive another appearance in a more popular Marvel title.  Methinks Stan's trying to boost sales.

Quick Thoughts:
  • The X-Men are noted as having become "famous", although Thing is not impressed
  • Cyke's "force blast" holds back Torch's flames
  • There's an error where Cyclops references the Mad Thinker before his awareness of the Mad Thinker's involvement in the plot
  • Another error where Sue gives the X-Men credit for defeating the Space Phantom, when it was actually the Avengers

Favorite Panel: The first meeting of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.
