Marvel History 199: X-Men # 8

Issue: X-Men # 8
Writer: Stan Lee
Artist: Jack Kirby
Publication Date: November 1964

Brief Summary:

Cyclops is really getting into taking over for Xavier; here we see him walking around in a suit and instructing the rest of the team in their (post graduate) training.

Beast quits the team at one point, but then returns shortly thereafter to help build a device that will stop the X-Men's new foe, Unus the Untouchable.  We also get a cameo from Mastermind, as Unus is trying to join Magneto's brotherhood.

Quick Thoughts:
  • Iceman continues to look more like his present day self and less like a snowman.
  • Jean and Scott's feelings for each other are revealed via thought bubble
  • Anti mutant sentiment is starting to surface
  • Professor Xavier is off trying to track down "Lucifer"

Favorite Panel:

Iceman tries to form a prison around Unus the Untouchable.

Next: Amazing Spider-Man # 19
